What's Going to Happen to Tracy Morgan's FXX Show?

by Caroline Pate

Tracy Morgan's current condition after his limo was involved in an accident with an 18-wheeler has many people concerned. Morgan had to undergo surgery and is currently in critical condition after sustaining multiple injuries from the crash. Friends like Andy Samberg are "terrified" about his condition, and fans were even speculating that Morgan's leg had been amputated (but thankfully, it's still intact).

But the crash doesn't just affect friends and fans — it affects Morgan's work as well. FXX had ordered ten episodes of an untitled television show starring Tracy Morgan and produced by the team from It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia. Production was to start in August, with the show scheduled to premiere in January of next year. However, with Morgan in critical condition, the show's future seems a bit up in the air: Would it get canceled? Would it be delayed? How much? Fortunately, FX released a statement regarding the show's status:

“The only thing we are concerned with is the health and recovery of Tracy Morgan and the victims of this tragic accident. We will support Tracy and his family in every way possible throughout his recovery. At the point when Tracy has recovered and decides that he is ready to go back to work, his show will be waiting for him. Right now our thoughts and prayers remain with Tracy, the other victims of the accident, and their families."

So there you have it, folks: the show will go on, but not without Tracy Morgan. While it seems like the show certainly won't get canceled, how long until it goes into production will depend on how long it takes for Morgan to fully recover. The former 30 Rock actor's upcoming show has a good team and a lot of promise, so thankfully the network is sticking by him through his recovery.
