J. Lo is a No Show No Mo'

by Kadeen Griffiths

J. Lo fans of the world, relax! Or, at least, the J. Lo fans who were headed to the 2014 World Cup can relax. Apparently, FIFA's announcement that Jennifer Lopez wouldn't be attending the World Cup due to mysterious "production issues" was greatly exaggerated. And, by greatly exaggerated, I mean they full-on lied to us. Not only will Lopez definitely be at the World Cup performance in Brazil, but her reps are now saying that any statements to the contrary were "premature".

The announcement that anyone going to the World Cup to see Jennifer Lopez performing was going to leave in tears came on Monday and speculation ran rampant that J. Lo was hitting the breaks on her appearance because of her recent split with Casper Smart. Whether or not that was actually the case is now irrelevant because the blame is being placed firmly on scheduling conflicts.

"Jennifer has always wanted to participate in the World Cup opening ceremonies," said one of her representatives. "We have been trying to work out scheduling and logistics. Any statements to the contrary were premature. Jennifer would not want to disappoint her fans or fans of futbol. She will be there."

Now the real question becomes, well, why did J. Lo's reps allow FIFA to announce one thing on Monday and back them up only to force them to announce another thing on Tuesday and back that up? Were people en masse shredding their tickets to the concert because no J. Lo no show? Were the rumors that this was about her heartbreak getting to be a little offensive to a consummate professional like Jennifer Lopez? Did the tight pants she shared with Jimmy Fallon give her the strength she needed to face the crowds?

Maybe J. Lo's reps just really hate FIFA enough to play an April Fools' Day joke on them in June. No matter what the reasoning, we can all breathe easy because Jenny from the Block is definitely going to be headlining the 2014 World Cup with Pitbull. "We are One" is still no "Waka Waka", but, hey, it'll do.
