Pixar's New Movie Sounds Fantastic

by Mallory Schlossberg

Pixar fan? Then we've got great news for you. Pixar's upcoming movie Inside Out looks like it will be equally delightful and insightful based on what director Pete Docter presented at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on Tuesday, June 10. It sounds like the studio will be bringing us its signature combination of wit, emotions, and visual stimulation. Docter, who directed the excellent movie Up, presented concept art and a plot synopsis of the movie. It centers on a young girl, Riley, as she learns to experience her feelings and deal with all of the things that go on in her world. In particular when she and her family move to San Francisco, a transition that is always a life-changing event for a young kid.

But Inside Out is more than just your average story, it also gives us a look at the human mind. Most of the story will take place in Riley's mind. The events in her life really just serve as a way to tell the story of her emotions as they gain traction and she gets more life experience.

The emotions are definitely going to be the star of they film and they're going to be voiced by top talents like Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and Mindy Kaling. It all sounds like pretty cool and intellectual stuff for an animated feature, but you can't deny that Pixar always has a good grip on combining intelligent ideas with family-friendly fun.

And here's where it gets exciting. (Photo alert!) The animation looks like it will be pretty great, too, since it will be inspired by Looney Tunes cartoonists Chuck Jones and Tex Avery. People who attended Annecy got a glimpse at some these drawings, and it only upped the excitement about the summer 2015 movie. Take a look!

Judging by what we know so far, it seems like this film will definitely get a place in the Pixar canon as well as in the hearts and minds of viewers.
