J. Lo's 'Booty' Video Is The Wrong Move

by Kenya Foy

Lately we've seen J. Lo receive tons of praise, due to the fact that she's an undeniably fit, sexy and accomplished mother of twins who can still give singers half her age a run for their money in the looks department. Billboard Music Awards made her the first female recipient of its Icon Award, and it didn't hurt that she looked freaking amazing on the cover of Billboard magazine. This is all obviously great publicity intended to promote the release of her new album. Generally speaking, she appeared to be moving in the right direction- until she released this snippet of the video for Jennifer Lopez's latest single "Booty."

At first glance, the minute-long teaser almost looks like a parody, or a twerk session gone awry, not to mention the dated choreography that conjures up memories of Ciara circa 2005. That's seriously surprising considering J. Lo's entertainment roots are in dancing. Overall, I'm not mad at most of the billion and one songs that pay homage to the undeniable lure of the almighty derriere, but what's been released so far of this "Booty" video is disappointing to say the least.

Visually, it lacks creativity and is certainly not aligned with someone with a lengthy music career and various accomplishments in virtually every other aspect of the entertainment industry. For J. Lo's sake, let's hope that the full video is more than awkward booty-shaking routines that make us feel like her latest move is simply ass backwards.Watch the snippet below:
