Arya Wants Him To Get An Emmy

by Mallory Schlossberg

I've said it before and I'll say it again — I loved Arya and The Hound's wandering journey with Samuel Beckett-esque banter in Season 4 of Game of Thrones. And it turns out, I'm not the only one. Maisie Williams said that Rory McCann (The Hound) deserves an Emmy for his performance, and you know what? Damn straight. He did a stellar job playing a role that was both murderous and violent, but also oddly paternal — it was in his final moments that he said he indeed did look after Arya (who, of course, doesn't need anyone to look after her, since she's the perennial badass of the show).

It just goes to show that Williams and McCann had a great time filming together, and that Williams — the precocious and rising star that she is — is gracious toward those with whom she works. Yeah, she has one of the best Twitter accounts and one of the best Instagrams around, but she's posting more than just silly pics.

As for the Emmy reality check, it looks like unfortunately, Williams's Twitter-nomination will not come to fruition, as the people behind Game of Thrones did not submit McCann for a nomination — even though The Hound was one of the best characters on the show with one of the best lines of the season ("lots of cunts name their swords," which, by the way, I'm still saying). I'm definitely going to miss the duo's repartee, but I'm also psyched to watch Williams as Arya heads off into new territory without any guidance other than her own conscience.

Speaking of Arya doing her own thing and killing it, Williams did get submit for a nomination. Here's hoping she gets a nod from the Emmys — she's such a freakin' star.
