He Just Made A Funny Commercial

Look, I'll be up front with you: I am not a sports enthusiast. I am, however, a guacamole, chips, and dessert enthusiast, so by association, I occasionally wind up in close proximity to sports. I also like funny things and enjoy some good ol' fashioned high-budget commercials, so I'll endorse this: former soccer player Landon Donovan's commercial for EA Sports is really funny and a little cheeky. Props to EA Sports for their wit, and double props to Donovan for being totally — bad pun alert — game.

In case you didn't know, Donovan had been cut from the U.S. World Cup team, which obviously sucked for him since that meant he wouldn't get to go to Brazil. If your former teammates are busy chillin' Brazilian style, you probably have a lot of free time on your hands, and you probably also have a lot of opportunities to not wear pants.

In this commercial, EA Sports makes a crack at how Donovan has chosen to spend that free time. According to this ad, he's having a damn good go of it. Who needs Brazil when you have... EA SPORTS?! (My answer to that would be "snacks," but Donovan and I are not one and the same.) If anything else, it's an excellent exercise in masking bitterness.
