Why 2000 Was The Sexiest Year for Music Videos

by Rachel Semigran

R&B and soul artist D'Angelo will finally release more music to follow-up 2000's smash hit Voodoo. The album was teased to come out as early as 2007, and when D'Angelo went on tour in 2011 and 2012, fans were sure the album was on its way. Now, after nearly 15 years of waiting, it appears as though D'Angelo's follow-up album is finally on its way.

Since his fast rise to fame in the early 2000's and the hiatus that soon followed, he has performed a few tracks live and collaborated with the likes of Questlove and The Revolution (you know, of Prince and The Revolution). He was also rumored to have appeared on the latest Michael Jackson album Xscape, but that never happened. He did, however, do a set of covers at 2014's Bonnarroo festival. So, yes, something has obviously been brewing, and we're all eager to hear the results.

According to D'Angelo's manager Kevin Liles:

Here's the thing: with D'Angelo it was a process. He didn't perform for 10 years and he's been working on an album for the past 12 years... He very bluntly put it, "Kev, the studio and the stage: that's my lifeblood. Now that I've touched it again, now that I see it again, I wanna be sure that the baby I'm about to have — the album — that I take it to the point where it's all it can be."

Okay, not we're really excited.

Another reason to get all hot and bothered over this news? D'Angelo music videos. In case you forgot, he was the reason you had to turn on MTV late at night with the volume down or quickly change the channel when your parents walked in while you were watching TRL. In fact, here's how D'Angelo made 2000 the sexiest year in music video history, with this one glorious single "Untitled (How Does it Feel)."

There was this

And This

This happened, too

Lest we forget this magic moment

And here's the whole thing to re-live in its full glory

Welcome back, D'Angelo. We've missed you.
