'Hunger Games' Has Officially Wrapped Filming

by Alanna Bennett

You know the saying: All good things must come to an end, and all A-list actors must eventually be freed from their blockbuster franchise contracts. And so it is that filming has wrapped on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 , and therefore, on the Hunger Games franchise as a whole. There was much sadness, and much rejoicing, and in the days to follow, there will surely be much Jennifer Lawrence sitting on her couch in her underwear eating french fries.

The end of the era was confirmed by Hunger Games producer Nina Jacobson via Twitter; she posted a forlorn photo (below) alongside the message, "That's a wrap. Thank you [Suzanne Collins] Thank you [Francis Lawrence] Thank you HG Fans. Other than that, I'm speechless."

Filming for the first Hunger Games movie started in May 2011 in North Carolina — that filming for the final one wrapped June 2014 in Berlin may give you a glimpse of how long the process has been, and how deep a whole bunch of actors and crew are sleeping right now.

It's been noted before that Lawrence would take a break after Hunger Games wrapped, and now seems to be her time. She will have to return to the Hollywood fold to film Joy , her next project with American Hustle director David O. Russell, but given that project doesn't come out until December 2015, she's probably got a solid few weeks of chilling off the radar drinking Budweiser and catching up with Keeping Up With the Kardashians . As she told USA Today back in December, "I've built my career. I need to build my human life. I need to get a house and connect to the people around me and not work for a little while."

Still, saying goodbye to such a big project can be an emotional time. Most of the cast will reunite for the press tours of the last two films — the Part 1 comes out this November — but they're still saying goodbye to most of the crew. But I won't try to gauge their emotions too much; I'll leave that to Jacobson's photo, because the time for hugs is always:
