Don't Worry, They Really Are Best Friends

For the many of us out there who are completely obsessed with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, it can be hard to accept the fact that no matter how much we wish for it, we will never actually get to be best friends with them. Our only solace is knowing that somehow, in this world filled with comparably boring people, these two smart, funny, inspiring women found each other—which is why any suggestion that the pair aren't as close as they seem would be a heart-shattering discovery. Well there's no need to worry, because in a recent interview, Poehler pretty much confirmed that she and Fey are true BFFs.

At the New York premiere of her new movie with Paul Rudd, They Came Together , a reporter asked Poehler what she usually does in her trailer while on set, and her answer should be all the proof you need of the seriousness (or lack thereof) of her friendship with Fey. Referring to her activities on set of her upcoming film with Fey, The Nest , Poehler says, "We don't spend a lot of time in our trailer because we’re just happy to be seeing each other. So we’re just goofing around on set a lot."

With just one sentence, Poehler reassured us all. It doesn't sound like much, but Poehler and Fey are both pretty busy between acting in and producing all of their various projects, hosting awards shows, raising adorable kids, writing awesome books, and just generally being amazing. So to actually hang out on set, instead of using free time to work on something else, means that they still legitimately love being together and make their friendship a priority.

Of course, even our idols need to sleep, and according to Poehler, that is one thing that eventually draws her to her trailer—but only for a little while. "In the trailer, I just close my eyes for like 10 minutes and pretend to sleep," Poehler says. I think that's pretty understandable, goofing around with Fey all day must be pretty tiring.

Maybe someday we'll know what it's like to be a part of that glorious friendship, but for now, it's enough to know that whether or not cameras are rolling, Fey and Poehler love each other as much as we love them.
