'Carlos Danger' Name Was a Joke, Weiner Says

by Katherine Johnson

After admitting to another sexting scandal this month, the public is now wondering why Weiner chose the username 'Carols Danger.'

Weiner, who's been urged to drop out of the race, was asked by Univision in an interview Thursday "why did you pick an Hispanic name and how dangerous were you really?"

"It was a joke in my personal life between me and one person," Weiner said, without further elaboration.

One of Weiner's opponents in the race for mayor, Rev. Erick Salgado, demanded Weiner apologize for picking a Hispanic name. “For Anthony Weiner to hide under a Spanish name to do his bad behavior is very insulting to the Spanish community...You have to apologize to the Latino community. It is an insult," Salgado said.

Weiner, who was in first place before the scandal broke, is now in fourth place, according to a poll from Quinnipiac University. Fifty-three percent say Weiner should drop out of the race, and 38 percent wouldn't describe Weiner as having "a strong personal moral character" at all.
