More Good News for Amanda

by Arielle Dachille

Things were looking pretty rocky for Amanda Bynes for a while there, but she really seems to have gotten her act together. Following six months of therapy, Amanda Bynes’ bong throwing case has been dismissed. Yep, the great flying bong caper of 2013 is all over. While things were rather crazy there for a spell, I’m happy to hear some good news about Bynes. She's a talented lady, and it's great to see her getting back on the proverbial horse.

The dismissal of Bynes’ bong case has been in the works for a while. Back in January, Bynes and her attorney accepted an adjournment in the case with the potential to drop all charges. And this one was a doozy. Bynes was up against counts of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, and marijuana possession following her May 2013 arrest. This was the incident when her neighbors called the cops on her and police found her smoking weed when they showed up. She then, allegedly, threw her bong out of the window. After that she accused the officers of assaulting her. A lot of stuff "allegedly" happened that day. It sounds exhausting. But now, as E! Online reports, she has attended a half a year of counseling as ordered by her judge, has been on her best behavior, and has complied with all that's been asked of her.

This case has been a serious wake-up call for Bynes, who has been making sincere efforts to get on the straight and narrow for a while now. In addition to attending the six months of therapy ordered by her judge, she recently made some powerful statements about the private nature of her mental health which were totally on point. Also, her driver’s license, which was suspended back in 2012, has been restored. Bynes is even finding a new sense of purpose, taking classes at LA’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. We knew that her return to twitter was a harbinger of good things to come and now it's clear that this is the kind of comeback that would make Ask Ashley proud.
