Check Out the Horror Version of '50 First Dates'

by Jenny Jaffe

Good news for fans of psychological horror thrillers: a trailer was just released for Before I Go To Sleep , the new film by Rowan Joffe, who also wrote 28 Days Later, and it is intense. Before I Go To Sleep, which is based on the bestselling British novel of the same name, tells the story of a woman named Christine (Nicole Kidman) who suffered a mysterious accident years ago, which causes her memory to reset every night when she goes to sleep, leaving her with no recollection of the accident or anything that's happened since. Filling in the details is up to her husband, Ben (Colin Firth), who tries to protect Christine from the truth of what happened, but as her doctor starts to let her in on more information about her past, Christine has to race against the clock and stay awake long enough to find out what really happened.

It's a twisty tale about the kind of severe memory loss that really only happens in movies. More specifically — and I can't be the only one who's thinking this — it's basically the exact plot of 50 First Dates.

In case you haven't watched that movie in a while, it's about a woman named Lucy (Drew Barrymore) who suffered a car accident years ago, which causes her memory to reset every night when she goes to sleep, leaving her with no recollection of the accident or anything that's happened since. Filling in the details is up to her father (Blake Clark), who tries to protect Christine from the truth of what happened, but when she meets Adam Sandler and he lets her in on more information about her past, Lucy has to race against the clock and stay awake long enough to find out what really happened.

RIGHT?!?

The only real difference is that I can't imagine Before I Go to Sleep has any original songs by Adam Sandler.

Check out the trailer below and see if you agree.
