Can You Beat the 'Friends' Game Show?

by Casey Rackham

"This is a girls' apartment! That is a boy's apartment! It's dirty and it smells!" With lines like that, it's no wonder that Friends ' "The One with the Embryos" is a favorite among fans. Not only is it one of the most quotable episodes of the series, but it's one of the most classic and simple examples of why Friends lasted so long. You can't help but watch the episode every time it's on — Who am I kidding? You can't help but watch every episode any time one's on — because the cast is at its best when the characters are just hanging out with each other and feeding off one another's energy.

The trivia game gives us the opportunity to see Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, and Joey (but not Phoebe, because she's busy fertilizing her eggs, of course) at their purest. Ross, as the game master, takes his rightful controlling role and shows off his more-than-mild neurosis and quirks; Rachel exerts her unadulterated excitement for life and her lovable naivety; Monica goes full-on competitive Monica (and isn't that the best and scariest version of herself?); Chandler entertains us with his bemused yet accepting and humorous view of his life; and Joey shows us that, when it comes down to it, we don't give him enough credit for how much he truly loves and knows his friends. And if Phoebe were actually there? She'd be Ross's extremely vocal Vanna White.

So do you think you have what it takes to beat the gang at its own game? Do you know what Chandler actually does for a living? If so, then show us what you've got hidden up your Friends-obsessed sleeve —. and don't cheat because Monica would have your head for that act of treason. No really, she would.

Here... We... Go!

What is Monica's biggest pet peeve?

Animals dressed as humans.

According to Chandler, what phenomenon scares the bejesus out of him?

Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance. (See, Monica knows her future husband so well.)

Monica and Ross had a grandmother that died. Name that grandmother.

Althea. (Zero points if you said "Nana" like Joey did.)

Every week, the TV Guide comes to Chandler and Joey's apartment. What name appears on the address label?

Miss Chanandler Bong. (So close, Rachel. So close.)

What is the name of Chandler's father's Las Vegas all-male burlesque?

Viva Las Gay-gas. (Once again, Monica knows Chandler way too well.)

Are you ready for the Lightening Round?!

What was Monica's nickname when she was a field hockey goalie?

Big, fat goalie. Teenagers are cruel.

Rachel claims this is her favorite movie.

Dangerous Liaisons.

Her actual favorite movie is this.

Weekend at Bernie's. Nice try, Rach.

In what part of her body did Monica get a pencil stuck at age 14?

Ear. (Although, I know we all want to know what Chandler actually whispered in Ross's ear.)

Monica categorizes her towels. How many categories are there?

11. (Don't forget the fancy guest towels.)

What is Joey's favorite food?

Sandwiches.

Chandler was how old when he first touched a girl's breast?

19. (Not 14.)

Joey had an imaginary childhood friend. His name was...

Maurice.

Maurice's profession was...

Space cowboy!

What is Chandler Bing's job?

Statistical analysis and data reconfiguration. (I will give you full points if you guessed Transponster because not only is that one of the best things Rachel has ever said, but because that's what we all wish Chandler's actual job title was.)
