#FoodieFiction Will Make You Laugh Out Loud

We all know food and fiction are the perfect couple. The presence of food makes for some of the best scenes in our favorite stories — sometimes simply delicious, others comical, and even the occasionally weird. A novel’s most eloquent lines can often come wrapped in a savory passage describing the consumption of a meal, and a character's greatest epiphanies can be inspired by a delectable (or disgusting) bite of food. Food and lit are a natural, frequent pair, whether you’re reading about a soul-searching protagonist eating her way through a foreign country or consuming a short story while chowing down on a meal yourself. Hell, even Chipotle recognizes the brilliance of the food-lit romance, printing short stories on their paper cups and bags.

And it seems the Twittersphere does, too, as a plethora of witty lit fans have taken to social media to reimagine some of their favorite classic book titles with foodie puns, making #foodiefiction the latest on a long list of brilliant literary hashtag trends.
