3 Great 'American Psycho' Parodies

by Kaitlin Reilly

Bret Easton Ellis is no stranger to controversy — the only thing more controversial than his novels might be his maligned Twitter account — but that hasn't stopped American Psycho from becoming iconic. And, in 2001, the adaptation directed by Mary Harron (yes, that's a woman taking on one of the most misogynistic characters of our time) put a very handsome face to Patrick Bateman's name — Christian Bale. Not only did the film become iconic, but it also became one of the most parodied contemporary films to hit the screen.

Next on the American Psycho parody train? That would be Kanye West, who allegedly filmed a new American Psycho-themed music video with the real-life man most often compared to Bateman, Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Scott Disick. While Bret Easton Ellis has supported casting Disick in the role (perhaps because 1) They look exactly alike, and 2) They are both psychopaths in $12,000 suits), we'll have to wait to see if he lives up to the hype once the video hits the web. In the meantime, check out three of three great American Psycho parodies:

To start, for your reference, here's video from one of the most famous scenes from the film, in which Patrick Bateman murders one of his co-workers, Paul Allen.

"You like 'Huey Lewis and the News'?"

The Miles Fischer parody for his cover of The Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place":

Oh, and Huey Lewis and Weird Al get in on the fun, too:

And, last but not least, the expansive trailer for All That Glitters, Bret Easton Ellis' CW TV show. (Oh my God, I would totally watch that... )
