'Harry Potter' Actor Dave Legeno Dies

by Caitlyn Callegari

Incredibly sad news for Harry Potter fans. Reportedly, actor Dave Legeno has passed away. Legeno is best known for his role as werewolf Fenrir Greyback in the Harry Potter films. He was 50 years old and leaves behind a daughter who is in her 20s. The news of Legeno's death is all the more tragic because of how it occurred. According to reports, the actor was found dead in a remote area of Death Valley by a group of hikers, and he is said to have been hiking as well. A helicopter had to be called in to remove Legeno's body as the location where he was found was so far off. The Inyo County Sheriff's Department says, Legeno "died of heat related issues … and may have been dead for 3-4 days before his body was discovered."

Legeno was not only known for his devious role in the Harry Potter series. He also played Borch in Snow White and The Hunstman and had a recurring role on Borgia as Guidebaldo De Montefeltro. In addition to many acting credits from 2000 till his untimely death, Legeno also starred in three movies that have not yet been released. The Last Knights, Sword of Vengence, and Petroleum Spirit are all set to debut in 2014.

While you may think you only know Legeno from his role as Fenrir Greyback, you may recognize him from some of his other roles as well.
