Kristen Gets Serious

by Caitlyn Callegari

It has never quite been a secret that Kristen Wiig is multi-talented. Sure, her gig on Saturday Night Live proved that she could be on-the-spot hilarious, but since then Wiig also has shown that she's got some real deal acting chops, along with being a relatable and communicative writer as well. I mean, have you seen Bridesmaids? The real question is have you stopped watching Bridesmaids since it premiered? Because I haven't either. Oh yeah, and she's a voice actress as well. But she doesn't want to just stop at that. Kristen Wiig is taking on some dramatic roles. She knows she's funny and she knows you know she's funny, so what she actually wants the world to see is that she can be serious, too.

And I can't very well blame her for wanting her audience to understand that she's more than just a comedienne, because Wiig is a well-rounded artist. She explains her desire to Elle magazine saying,

I've always wanted to do dramatic stuff, to write and direct, do a lot of different things. Comedy is where my heart lies, but there's also something really satisfying about being able to step away with a small crew, become a character and get to know her for a few months at a time.

And she's making that wish come to fruition. With a healthy mix of both more serious and comedic roles, Wiig is absolutely transforming as an actress. But, while excited for the opportunity, Wiig knows that involved roles come with a price and things like nudity can be pertinent and undeniable. She explains that while reading the script for the upcoming Welcome to Me, she knew that, "If I do this movie, I have to do this [nude] scene, because it's really important to this script."

Sounds like Wiig is ready for the undertaking. She is set to star in a plethora of films that are due out later this year and all the way into 2016. Want to get to know some more about them? Take a look below.
