The 'Power Rangers' Movie Has Its Writers

Big, big news: According to Indiewire, the Power Rangers film has chosen its writing team, and, luckily for devoted fans everywhere who basically grew up fighting with all of their friends about which color Ranger they were, the picks aren't disappointing in the slightest. X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been enlisted to pen the Power Rangers screenplay, and, in even more exciting news, Roberto Orci — who wrote Star Trek Into Darkness and just left The Amazing Spider-Man franchise — will executive produce the whole project. Yay for this movie maybe not being terrible and ruining all our childhoods!

As previously reported, the film is being commissioned by Lionsgate, the studio behind The Hunger Games film adaptations that brought Jennifer Lawrence into the mainstream and, thus, into our lives. This, coupled with the news that Orci, Miller, and Stentz are now involved actually gives me some hope for this movie — they all know what they're doing, so the film at least won't be unwatchable. Hey, do you think that now that there's such big names behind the film, they could get Bryan Cranston to reprise his one-episode role as Snizzard from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ? Just a thought...
