3 Of Noël Wells' Best Sketches

by Alanna Bennett

It's the time of year where we must lend our condolences to those fired from Saturday Night Live. Brooks Wheelan announced Monday that he'd been fired from the show, and now fellow freshman castmates John Milhiser and Noël Wells has followed suit. These relative SNL newbies now join the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Obvious Child star Jenny Slate with the prestigious honor of getting sacked by Lorne Michaels.

Since there have been no additional casting announcements since Shaheer Zamata was hired last year, Wells' departure from the show also brings with it a potential pickle: This isn't exactly a show that can sail along by without a wide array of female cast members. With Wells gone they're down one, so eyes will certainly be on SNL as they gear up for Season 40 to see if they fill the slot wisely.

Wells, like Wheelan, only lasted one season on the sketch show — and it was a season particularly saturated with new faces. Regardless of how long one lasts on Saturday Night Live, though, it's the kind of exposure you just can't beat. One season or ten, you'll always be an SNL alum.

So with her departure — and her hopefully moving on to better things — let us celebrate some of what she did with her time there. Here are our 3 favorite sketches featuring Wells.

"Do It On My Twin Bed"

This one was definitely an ensemble piece, but after so many dude-heavy digital shorts it was pretty great to see all of the ladies come together to sing about something so awkward.

Blockbuster

The death of Blockbuster must be properly mourned.

Girls Promo

Far and away what we'll remember her for most. That Lena Dunham impression!
