Her Perseverance Will Impress You on 'Teen Mom 2'

by Paige Tutt

From a few days at the beach to the Las Vegas hair show, Teen Mom 2 star Leah Calvert has been keeping herself quite busy this summer. The MTV series' Season 5 part two trailer reveals that it's not always sunshine and lollipops for this teen momma. Since tying the knot with Jeremy Calvert, Leah has seemed really happy. But the heartbreaking news about her 4-year-old daughter Ali was something no one was prepared for.

In the Season 5A finale, Ali was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy called Titin Gene Mutation. She is the only known case of the condition in a child, and so far, worldwide there are only twenty other recorded cases. Though the mutation will affect Ali's ability to breathe and her heart, she will be able to walk on her own, although she'll need assistance at times from a wheelchair.

Despite the news, that hasn't stopped this family from banding together to assure Ali, Aleeah, and baby Adalynn Faith have the best lives possible. Don't worry, this speed bump won't stop Ali and Aleeah from cheerleading or their life ambitions of becoming a doctor and nurse (respectively), as well as being the stars of some aww-inspiring photo shoots.

Here's an inside look at what's been going on with Leah and Co. over the last few months to prepare you for the premiere of the second half of Teen Mom 2's fifth season.

LEAH GOT A NEW HAIRCUT

Opting for a shorter look, this hairstyle shapes Leah's face in a super flattering way. I like it short, Leah!

STARTED ATTENDING BEAUTY SCHOOL

Leah started beauty school classes and apparently, she loves it. It's nice to see that she's enjoying her classes and on the path towards a new career.

SHE WENT TO A HAIR SHOW IN LAS VEGAS

No Teen Mom is more deserving of a break than Leah. A few days in Vegas for a hair show is not much but, it looks like she had fun.

AND MIGHT BE CONSIDERING WRITING A BOOK

A barrage of tweets like this one proves that not only is there a market for Leah's potential memoir, but fans are hungry to get their hands on one. Maybe we'll see something out of her within the next year.

LEAH IS IN LOVE, AND IT LOOKS LIKE SHE'S GOING TO STAY THAT WAY

Jeremy has been a positive presence in the girls' lives so far, and Leah has no problem showing her love and affection for him and their whole family.

THERE'S NO FAMILY DRAMA

In a sneak peek from Season 5B, Corey reveals that Ali may be more aware of her medical situation than they previously thought. But the co-parenting crew made sure that Ali understood she can achieve anything she wants to, despite her situation. Hearing your child say "I'm not strong" is a truly heartbreaking experience, but it seems Leah and Corey have handled the situation quite well.

LEAH'S ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A RAGAMESE CAT

I don't blame her. The kittens are absolutely adorable. Take a closer look:

ADALYNN TURNED ONE

This baby already has a big personality. I can't imagine what funny little moments we'll see from her this season.

Whose ready for this dynamic duo, and younger sis Adalynn, to take over their television this summer? There will be plenty of laughs, some tears, and a whole lot of fun. Leah and Corey are strong and have a fantastic support system behind them and all the girls are loved and cared for. Nothing can stop them now.
