Maks Wants You to Know He Hates Fame

by Mallory Schlossberg

Maks and Meryl Davis 'shippers, here's a new one for ya: Maks Chmerkovskiy can't take all the press he gets for allegedly dating famous people. He told New York Daily News's blog Confidenti@l that this distaste for fame really hit its peak when he was linked to Jennifer Lopez (what, did the Meryl 'shippers get in your face too much?). Now, he can see the light — this is why celebrities who are in l-u-v rarely have successful relationships. It's so stressful being famous and dating other famous people!

Now, on whether Maks really dated J. Lo, Kate Upton, Karina Smirnoff, or Meryl —or whether they were all just well-played P.R. ploys — he says this:

I now understand why Hollywood is such a difficult place to have a good relationship in: because there’s all these interferences. Two people have to be so strong — and notice I didn’t say "in love." They have to be in love, but trust me, there’ve been situations when two people have been really in love, and all of this gets in the way and it completely ruins it.

Oh! So... maybe Maks and Meryl were in love but they weren't strong enough? Maybe all of their dances were metaphors for their lack of strength but their respective fires within? Okay, maybe that's a bit of a reach, but it's a possibility.

But if the 'shippers need a tad more fuel for their M&M fire, Maks assured Confidenti@l that he and J. Lo are just friends. He said:

With the Jennifer thing, look, we’re friends and … we’re friends. This is it. This is where it ends, pretty much.

Okay, Maks. You do you, and everyone else will continue to bug you about who you're dating. Sorry, dude, but that's just the way things go when you're a burly Ukrainian dance master.
