Who's That Guy Leading The SKYY Seminar?

by Kristie Rohwedder

If you've watched ESPN at all recently, I'd be willing to bet you saw the following two people on your TV screen: 1) LeBron James and 2) that guy from the new SKYY Vodka ad campaign. No, I don’t mean Gerard the whiskered bartender. It isn’t a Sprint Framily commercial featuring a talking rodent, you dig? (But before I continue, can we please take a moment to admire that tiny mouse and that tiny martini and that tiny bottle of SKYY and that tiny bar that someone carefully placed in the middle of the maze? The tableau is so adorable it borders on upsetting. How am I supposed to breathe while I'm staring at that precious little olive?!?!) So, who is the speaker leading the drink-iquette seminar in the new SKYY ads? That would be actor/improvisor/writer/funny human Paul Welsh.

Where have you seen Welsh before? You might recognize him as one of the cops-turned-strippers on Playing House . Or! Perhaps you've seen him perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Or! You may have stumbled across his smart, hilarious, and delightfully absurd Twitter feed (if you don’t follow him already, scurry on over to his profile and click "Follow" at your earliest convenience. His tweets will not disappoint). Or! You could remember him from this pre-Comedy Central Broad City webisode:

Allow me to get one thing straight: He's worked with Lennon Parham, Jessica St. Clair, Ilana Glazer, and Abbi Jacobson? AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Here is just one of the many SKYY ads starring Welsh:

Uh, of course I picked the one with the mouse and the miniature props. I’m not a goblin.
