Emily Throws Some Shade at 'Bachelorette' Des

by Lindsay Mannering

She's supposedly a sweet southern belle, but during the Bachelorette finale Monday night, former Bachelorette Emily Maynard tweeted some not so nice things about Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried. Granted, Emily was just as confused as we were by the way things wrapped up for Des, but you'd think some sort of Bachelorette sisterhoodness would kick in and she'd throw some love at the poor girl, not some shade. After all, people who go on reality TV to find a life partner in 16 weeks need to stick together — they're a special kind of crazy. Why else do you think that they have all those Bachelor/Bachelorette alumni parties all the time? They're a tribe who gains strength and power from being around their own kind. I'm not saying it's right, but it's just the way it is.

Anyway, so Emily. The single mom of one is all too familiar with the ABC series. She won Brad Womack's heart on the Bachelor, then dumped it, and she won Jef Holm's heart on the Bachelorette, then dumped it, so she's pretty well versed in the trials and tribulations that accompany the attempt to find a husband on what's essentially a game show, with a human prize. Don't you think that'd make her a little more understanding of Des's plight?

Eh, not so much. Emily tweeted:

Emily's wearing the same Mara Hoffman crop top in her Twitter profile picture that Des wore when she dumped Drew on the beach. Drama.

She then followed it up with:

Listen — it's not like either of those are mean or bullying or anything of that nature. In fact, her tweets are just honest, and in the case of Chris's doppelgänger, mildly accurate. It's just that it feels weird to see Emily "insult" one of her own. Even though all of Bachelor Nation feels like that finale was the weirdest and most depressing in the series' history, we kinda hoped that Des could take refuge in the arms of people who have been there, done that.

Who knows, maybe it's all water under the Bachelorette bridge for Emily and Desiree, but word to the wise, Des: don't show up to any of those Bach get togethers in the crop top. That one's all Emily's, bitch.
