Lea Michele's First 'Glee' Photo Heart-Breaking

by Kate Ward

Lea Michele continues to use Twitter to subtly pay tribute to her late boyfriend and Glee co-star, Cory Monteith, who died in July in Vancouver following an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

On Monday, the actress touched on her first Glee recording following Monteith's passing, calling it a "beautiful & perfect song to start the week with." And, on Tuesday, the actress posted the on-set photo below, with the accompanying tweet, "Feels so good to be home... #GleeSeason5."

Much ado has been made over Glee's fifth season, which was delayed following Monteith's death. (The new premiere date is set for Sept. 26.) Though some fans hoped Glee would be as subtle with the actor's passing as Michele is on her Twitter feed, Glee creator Ryan Murphy and producers have confirmed that the third episode of the series would focus on drug abuse and Finn's death. Whether or not Finn himself will die of a drug overdose is unknown. What is known, however, is that Michele is heavily involved with Glee 's third episode, making the photo below all the more somber. Said Murphy in the days following Monteith's death, "Lea blessed every decision. I told her even I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to write about the death of someone I love. She wanted people to be together. She and Cory were the young leads of that show, the A story. Lea has been a leader all through this difficult process."

Seems it will be some time before Glee gets gleeful again.
