The Weirdest, Prettiest Instagram Trend Out There

by Savannah O'Leary

Today, I would like to bring your attention to an Instagram trend that has, regrettably, flown under our radar for an inexcusable amount of time. Over the past two years, while we have concerned our Instagram accounts with copious amounts of food porn, Russian women have been photographing themselves with ostentatious displays of flowers.

This trend — appropriately named "Russian women with flowers" — involves a series of gorgeous Russian women playing dress up and posing with hundreds of bouquets of pastel roses, Gerbera daisies, peonies, lilies, you name it. These mysterious women lounge in gorgeous boudoirs, wearing couture clothing, in the company of these lavish displays.

We have a lot of questions about these "flowergrams" — who is your boyfriend? Where did you get that skirt? How did we miss a trend that, according to Jezebel and The Cut, has been going on for two years? We would also appreciate an approximation of the production costs behind the average photo.

Unfortunately, Instagram provides us with only a mere glimpse into the lives of these Russian goddesses, and so we must confront the painful realization that we will probably never know how or why these women find themselves drowning in hydrangeas. All we can do is give this phenomenon the attention it deserves.

I love everything about this, and I want it replicated in America. Flowers for everyone!
