What Happened To Sisqo?

by Samantha Martin

If you had a beating pulse in 2000, you probably know Sisqo's "Thong Song" intimately. Since then, it seems like the singer has been dumped like a truck (still don't really know what that means) from the face of the planet. I'd be lying if I said the thought "Is Sisqo still alive?" didn't cross my mind just now. Well, I'm happy to report that, as of this article's publishing date, Sisqo remains a functioning member of society. Here's proof:

1. He is still performing!

Sisqo is one of the founding members of the R&B group Dru Hill, who garnered a following in the late 1990s with hits like "In My Bed" and "Never Make a Promise." The group broke up from 1999 to 2002, during which time Sisqo released his solo albums Unleash the Dragon (which contained "Thong Song" and "Incomplete") and the less successful Return of the Dragon. Today, Dru Hill is reunited and is very likely playing at a venue near you sometime in the foreseeable future. Hopefully the other members of the quartet don't get too miffed by the "Thong Song" chants during gigs.

2. He's a loving father and husband!

You can read all about Sisqo's family in Baltimore — including their "one meal a day" policy and Sisqo's desire for his wife Elizabeth to "always look sexy" — in his wife's Celebrity Wife Swap page. Sisqo also has two kids, Ryu and Shaione. I assume he's taught them all about the finer things in life.

3. He's active on social media!

If you're not following @OfficialSisQo on Twitter, you're missing out on buckets of self-promotion, reminders that he was once super famous, and liberal uses of the dragon emoji. In other words, shameless branding.

(Psssst! It's LaurYn Hill.)

4. He has done reality TV!

Like any washed-up (said with love!) celebrity, Sisqo has made a reality TV appearance or two. Aside from the aforementioned Celebrity Wife Swap stint, he participated in the British series Celebrity Big Brother in 2010 and was the fifth houseguest evicted. Hey, it's better than Celebrity Rehab, right?

5. He still has platinum blonde hair!

Unlike so many who try and reinvent themselves as a means to revive their career, Sisqo has stayed true to his image. Quoth his wife:

Sisqo still maintains his signature platinum hair and dyes it often. Because his hair attracts attention when we go out, he keeps it hidden under a hat, except during performances.

Glad to hear you're still livin' la vida loca, Sisqo!
