Azealia Banks' New Video Clip Is Very Her

by Kenya Foy

When Azealia Banks announced her separation from Universal a couple weeks back, she was super excited about it and declared herself free from the shackles of her former record label. It didn't take much to convince me that this particular move would yield awesome results for Banks' career, which is oftentimes overshadowed by her numerous Twitter feuds. Thankfully, Banks is wasting no time in ensuring that things will go right with her newly-acquired independence, and the snippet of the video for Banks' single "Heavy Metal and Reflective" she posted on Instagram is promising. In the short teaser, a couple of dirt bike riders cruise through the desert, showing off their wheelie skills. Just before their stunts steal the scene, Banks rolls through on the back of a bike. She's covered from head to toe, outfitted in one of her signature neon suits, a helmet, and goggles. If there's any doubt about whether it's actually Banks (other than the fact that it's her song), two things give away her identity: her signature butt-length hair and the middle finger she throws up while speeding past the camera just before the clip fades to black. Yep, that pretty much sums up what everyone already knows about Banks.

As per usual, the Harlem-bred rapper isn't short on confidence judging by what she tweeted about her new single.

Banks also tweeted that the full video for "Heavy Metal and Reflective" will be available on Aug. 5, but for now check out the clip below:
