Why Nick Should Win 'The Bachelorette'

by Kayla Hawkins

We've been waiting on pins and needles for a whole season, but finally, The Bachelorette, Andi Dorfman is about to choose Nick Viall or Josh Murray. While both guys have their own rabid fans, I think the answer as to who should win was answered as early as the premiere. Nick and Andi have had a strong connection throughout the series. With all of the crazy moves he’s made throughout the season, from breaking the rules to get more time with her to making that picture book in hope of winning a night in the fantasy suite, Nick has always been able to make Andi laugh, and she started to fall for him immediately.

While neither Nick nor Josh seems totally ready for marriage, that's always a feature of Bachelor/ette contestants. The real question is, what's holding them back? Is it just cold feet, or something more serious? Josh seems like he has some priorities that trump falling in love, like his brother’s career. But Nick isn't that committed to anything just yet. It seems like he needs a serious relationship along with his serious career and family life in order to truly be grown up. He’s like a character in a Judd Apatow movie after the credits roll; it probably took him a long time to get his priorities straight, but he's a good person who will rise to the occasion for a girl as great as Andi.

When Andi met with his family, Nick didn’t seem to know what to think. They’re an overwhelming group, but Andi fit in so well, so fast — it was a little shocking. You can easily imagine her sitting with Nick’s sisters planning a wedding, or combining both families for Thanksgiving dinner. That visit was the first time Nick really seemed to realize that he could spend the rest of his life with Andi. Even though he's confidently been, in his words, the "frontrunner" ever since the first impression rose, he seemed to alternately bend the rules to win her heart (like that surprise bouquet in the second episode) or coast week-to-week on a shy smile.

More than anything, Andi really seems to love Nick’s awkward charm. She has more in common with Josh on a superficial level, but she appears to have a very real connection with Nick. Even though she's bubbly and he's reserved, they have some pretty fantastic chemistry on television. If he doesn’t blow it in the finale and manages to impress Andi’s amazing dad (who can be seen saying in an albeit heavily edited preview that Josh "doesn't have a prayer"), he should have cemented his place in Andi's heart. Fingers crossed Nick will have the courage to get down on one knee, after it took him a while to even admit that he's in love with Andi. It's so clear from how she interacts with Nick that she's totally head-over-heels in love with him. Hopefully, she'll choose him and he'll be able to return the feeling so these two can run off with the final rose together.
