Rita Vs Rita: Which 'Glamour' Cover Is Fiercer?

by Rosie Narasaki

Rita Ora is having quite the moment. Between her two ultra-popular songs ("I Will Never Let You Down" and "Black Widow," a collaboration with Iggy Azalea) dueling constantly on the radio, her upcoming capsule collection with Adidas (which she's a perfect fit for, by the way), her flawless updated Marilyn ads for Roberto Cavalli (out of the dozens of Marilyn-inspired editorials, ads, etc, it's one of my favorites), and her concert tours, she is a very busy lady. And now, Rita Ora is on the cover of Glamour UK . Phew!

She's becoming an icon — so get ready to reach for your hair bleach, dry shampoo (to get her enviable Old Hollywood volume, of course), and red, red lipstick, because you're going to be wanting to steal her signature beauty look soon (if you don't already, that is). At any rate, the road to icon status has just been paved with the September Glamour UK cover. When she announced via Instagram this morning that it was her second cover with the magazine, it got my competitive wheels turning: Which cover was better? Which was more fashionable? Fabulous? Glamour-ous? (Sorry, I couldn't help myself)

So, with that in mind, let's have a little friendly Rita vs. Rita competition!

Glamour UK January 2013 Cover

Sweet and floral — the baby pink lipstick and side ponytail look youthful bordering on girlish, and the dress is retro in a Betty Draper/Betty Crocker kind of way. Also, her quote is a little name-droppy yet inspirational: "The unforgettable advice Beyoncé gave me."

Now, let's have a look at this month's cover.

Glamour UK September 2014 Cover

Night and day, no? It's actually a little eerie, because her facial expression is almost exactly the same as her last cover — it's just everything else that's changed. Personally, I probably wouldn't wear this look, but it seems to fit her cool-girl image better... and you've got to give it points for that. Her quote, on the other hand, is a definite improvement: "Heartbreak? It sucks."

Which do you like better? I'm tempted to give the win to the new September cover by volition of the super-accurate heartbreak quote and red lipstick. On the other hand, I've always been a sucker for a floral dress...
