In Need of New Music? Look No Further!

Newcomer Ryn Weaver rocked the Internet last month with her fantastic debut single, "OctaHate," and now she's back with another new track called, "Promises." If you can believe it (and I hardly can), "Promises" might actually be even better than "OctaHate." As far as pop songs go, "Promises" is, well, totally amazing. Jeez, where did this Weaver come from, anyway?

We still don't know much about her, but according to The FADER, Weaver is now signed to pop music producer Benny Blanco's new label, Friends Keep Secrets (Blanco is well-known for his work with pop acts like Katy Perry and Kesha). The FADER goes on to point out that Weaver herself recently explained how she got connected with Blanco, DJ/producer Cashmere Cat, and Passion Pit front man Michael Angelakos (who all had a hand in creating "OctaHate") in a comment left on music website Stereogum:

... Actually, i met benny at a party a year back and showed him my sound cloud… he had already been working with cashmere cat a bit… and he showed michael some of my music that I had produced and written on my own… and we all kinda just started to make some music. ...

Well, that explains that.

Like "OctaHate" before it, "Promises" is a swirling piece of ear candy with thoughtful verses and a booming refrain that will get stuck in your head in no time flat. On the chorus, Weaver sings:

Weaver confirmed on Twitter that she wrote "Promises," and that it was produced by Blanco and Angelakos. Weaver bridges the gap between indie pop and more commercial pop quite effortlessly. Her songs are familiar in structure, but incorporate some unexpected sounds, as well ("Promises'" wonderfully bizarre intro instantly comes to mind). I haven't been this excited about a new artist in a long time!

Gigwise reports that Weaver is working on a new EP, "which is set to be released soon." I can't wait.
