Norway PM Drives Taxi All Day, Chatting To Voters

by Jenny Hollander

Obama: pay attention.

Norway's prime minister of eleven years, Jens Stoltenberg, has a firm belief that people speak their minds inside of cabs. To that end, Stoltenberg spent an entire day driving strangers around Oslo in June, clad in dark glasses and a standard-issue taxi driver's uniform.

Stoltenberg's been popular during his eleven-year tenancy as leader, but ahead of the upcoming Norwegian election, polls have noted a dip in his lead. The "undercover cab driver" video, published on his Facebook page, will be used during his September campaign.

"It's important to me to hear what people really think," explained Stoltenberg to Norwegian press. "And if there is one place people really say what they think about most things, it's in the taxi."
