Daniel Radcliffe on Nude Scenes, 'What If,' & More

by Anna Klassen

It feels as if it's been lightyears since Daniel Radcliffe graced the big screen toting a wand alongside Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. And in many ways, it has. The 25-year-old actor has spent the last several years distancing himself from the franchise that made him famous. From bearing it all on the stage version of Equus to lending his voice to cartoons like The Simpsons and Robot Chicken, there's no doubt about it — Harry Potter's long gone. And now, Radcliffe will cross something else off his acting bucket list: A romantic comedy. I sat down with him to chat about his new film What If.

What If is a romantic comedy that follows Wallace (Radcliffe) a medical student dropout who finds himself stuck in a trend of terrible relationships. When he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan), a quirky artist with whom he forms an instant connection, he assumes it all could change. It all goes sour, though, when Chantry reveals she's in a relationship with a live-in boyfriend. Wallace agrees to "just be friends" and soon, the pair are inseparable.

So, can Wallace and Chantry remain friends? And what happens when your best friend turns out to be the love of your life?
