She Needs to Play Marilyn Monroe

After their not-totally-successful Elizabeth Taylor television movie (which, if you recall, was billed as Lindsay Lohan's "comeback," but instead ended up to be one of her worst career moves next to The Canyons and I Know Who Killed Me ), Lifetime is taking another shot at the whole biographical television film about an iconic old Hollywood actress thing: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lifetime has commissioned a Marilyn Monroe miniseries.

The deets, from THR:

The female-skewing cable network is developing Marilyn, a miniseries based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's book The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Sounds not terrible so far, despite the fact that it's on Lifetime — the network that brought us Baby For Sale, My Stepson, My Lover, and Sexting in Suburbia — and even better when you consider that it's going to be penned by 24 and The Kennedys writer Stephen Kronish.

It's not clear who will take on the role of the iconic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star just yet, but I think at this point, it's pretty safe to say it won't be Lindsay Lohan. (Sorry, Linds.)

Might I suggest Megan Hilty, though? Because seriously, she already took on the role of Marilyn in NBC's terrible Smash (and was the best thing about that show in the process), and also...come on:

Twins. You're welcome, Lifetime.
