Here Is Just One More Reason to Love Amy Poehler

by Rachel Reid

One hundred years from now, people will be grateful to the 2000s for a couple of choice contributions: iPhones, the pop-country crossover, and unbelievably impressive Pixar movies.

It's hard to think of a Pixar movie that hasn't totally surpassed expectations (actually it's not that hard — the Cars series was pretty embarrassing, but we can ignore that). From Finding Nemo to Up, Pixar movies are always careful to tell human stories without losing the fantastic effects of animation. And with the announcement of its new project, Inside Out, we can expect the tradition to continue.

Inside Out, set to be released in 2015, will be Pixar's second movie featuring a female lead (kind of). Eleven-year-old Riley won't exactly be the film's main character, but she will be its setting: Inside Out tells the story of Riley's personified emotions and their adventures inside her mind.

Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear and Sadness will each be played by a Hollywood star — Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling are the most buzz-worthy cast members as Joy and Disgust, Fear will be voiced by Bill Hader, and Anger and Sadness will be played by Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith, respectively.

The film will also explore the minds of other human characters, including Riley's parents. According to reports from D23, each mind's headquarters is created uniquely to fit its person, and each set of emotions is specific to the character it belongs to.

This awesome idea would appear to be the summation of Pixar's humanity-meets-magic philosophy, and we cannot wait to see it on screen.
