Craig Ferguson May Get a New Show

We might not have to say goodbye to Craig Ferguson after all. It was sad to learn that the comedian was leaving The Late Late Show on CBS, but now Craig Ferguson is close to landing another evening talk show deal. According to Variety, the host is in talks with Tribune Media about a syndicated daily talk show. It's a little different from his current job, which has him in a one-hour slot at 12:35 AM. This new show would be only half an hour and would air across Tribune Broadcasting's 42 stations in the 7:00 PM slot. Entertainment Weekly points out that this change could actually be good news for Ferguson because there's "less competition than in the afternoon and late-night hours."

Sources told Variety that Ferguson and Tribune Media are close to securing the deal and if all goes as planned, the new show will debut in fall of 2015. Michael Naidus, executive producer of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson is expected to be the showrunner.

This is great news for Ferguson's fans who were saddened to learn that the host was leaving his TV post, and that he'd been passed over to fill Letterman's Late Show spot. It's nice to know that Ferguson's particular brand of comedy and Scottish charm might not be exiting TV forever, because we'd really miss this:
