Adam Levine is the Perfect Guy For This Job

by Kenya Foy

Adam Levine could've totally been a '70s sex symbol. His signature falsetto would've fit perfectly on the Bee Gees' 1977 hit "Stayin' Alive." But since he was born just a tad bit too late, I, along with anyone else who automatically pictured Levine sporting long hair and skintight bell-bottoms, will just have to settle for his latest project. According to Billboard, Adam Levine will serve as a producer of The 1970s , a musical series for NBC that will "explore the decade through the eyes of music executives and artists." The 10-hour event will feature some of today's most popular artists re-recording hits from the '70s.

Aside from the silky smooth sound of Levine's voice, there are a few reasons he's the perfect guy for the job. First off, there's his role as a coach on The Voice, in which he helps singers put their own spin on classic songs, which essentially sounds like what he'll be responsible for on The 1970s. Also, two contestants Levine guided on The Voice have gone on to win the entire competition, so he obviously knows his stuff.

If there's anyone who can handle producing a series of this magnitude, it's Levine. Balancing the series along with his acting ventures, running a record label and releasing new Maroon 5 music, may sound like quite a heavy load, but we are talking about an award-winning musician who somehow managed to begin promoting the group's new album a few days after he married Behati Prinsloo.

Another advantage Levine has are his multiple collaborations with artists from various musical genres, including Kanye West, Gym Class Heroes and Alicia Keys. And it doesn't hurt that he counts Fleetwood Mac and Simon & Garfunkel among his musical inspirations. Both bands had huge musical successes during the '70s. So there's no doubt that Levine's personal connection with music from that era combined with his expertise are bound to do The 1970s the modern-day justice it deserves.
