Tina Fey's New Show Is No More

While yes, we do still have Tina Fey's upcoming NBC series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to look forward to, it looks like that's the only Tina Fey-affiliated television show we should expect in the near future. Unfortunately, Variety is reporting that Fox has cancelled the Tina Fey-created Cabot College pilot, and will not be giving it a series order after all.

Yes — I don't know how Fox could turn down anything produced by Tina Fey either, especially a show that actually sounded really good. The plot, as detailed by A.V. Club was as follows: "Cabot College was created by Fey and 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock, and was to be a fish-out-of-water comedy about the first class of men to attend a historically all-women’s college." Look, if anyone could pull this plot off, it's Fey, and it's a damn shame that Fox isn't giving the pilot a shot.

As for the reason that Fox rejected the pilot: Though it was already shot, it's actually not clear what Fox's reasoning was for giving it the ax. I assume there were some disagreements behind the scenes, because that's generally the reason for shows getting the ax at this stage, but nothing has been confirmed.

Ugh.

NBC, don't let us down now. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt MUST make it to air. It's our only hope to save television from another Tina Fey-less season.
