Skier Lindsey Vonn Is a Guest Judge on 'Project Runway' — But Just How into Fashion Is She?

The Sochi Winter Olympics weren't blessed with the presence of mega talented olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, but that doesn't mean she's shying away from TV. Vonn was an Olympics corespondent for TODAY and NBC Sports, and now she's about to be a guest judge on Thursday's Project Runway on Lifetime. So what's this gold medalist got to say about fashion?

Apparently, a lot. On Vonn's Facebook account, she posted, "Oh yeah, I LOVE fashion! And this Thursday I'll be on Project Runway as a guest judge! I had a blast on the show and the designers are amazing."

So, does Vonn deserve a spot on the Project Runway panel? Absolutely. In fact, I can think of eight ways she's shown how much she truly loves fashion.

Fashion Week — Crutches and All

Vonn knows how important it is not to miss a runway event — even when she’s on crutches. In February, Vonn took part in New York Fashion Week at the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection. Her dress, from Cynthia Rowley, was part of a show that focused on women’s heart disease and how to prevent it. But Vonn didn’t just wear the dress — she helped create it. ”We designed this dress together. It’s a little bit difficult to find something that looks good with flats and a knee that has a huge scar down it, so I think [Rowley] did a good job.”

And Vonn did a good job rockin’ the runway with an injury.

Stylin' on the Slopes

Fashion week wasn’t the first time Vonn joined with designer Rowley. The pair worked together on creating Vonn’s helmet for the Sochi games. Although Vonn was unable to participate in the Winter Olympics, “Snow Leopard” (pictured) won the contest. I preferred the floral design of “Speed of Light,” but I guess a mountain cat would have been more fierce coming down the slopes than some pretty flowers.

Fashionable Performance Gear

Under Armour’s recent campaign “I Will What I Want” has been in the news recently (especially since it confirms that dance is a sport, thanks to spokesperson Misty Copeland). But Vonn is also repping Under Armour — and she’s been doing it since 2010.

Vonn is a longtime Under Armour customer, and you can shop her look on the website. Not only does she workout like a badass — she dresses like a badass while doing it. Makes your old high-school graduation T-shirt and Target-bought yoga pants look pretty shitty, don’t it?

Big Hat = Fancy Lady

As an avid supporter of the Kentucky Derby (I’m actually against horse racing, but I like any excuse to day drink), Vonn’s 2012 Kentucky Derby ensemble won me over. Big hats are a staple while attending classy, old-timey events — like the Kentucky Derby and royal weddings — and her white, wide brim hat sassily says, “Another round of mint juleps, sir.” Not a newbie to the event, her 2012 look even improved upon her lovely coral ensemble in 2011.

Presenting with Glamour

Although winning the gold medal at the Olympics or winning a championship game kind of proves you’re the best, athletes are not to be outdone by movie stars. So, they have their own awards shows too, including the ESPYs. Of course, Vonn has been on the EPSYs plenty of times, and she knows how to present in style. Pictured is one of Vonn’s two 2012 EPSY looks. I definitely prefer this short, seafoam green dress over Vonn’s Marciano dress. But points for a costume change. Anne Hathaway would be proud.

White Hot on the Red Carpet

Vonn and boyfriend Tiger Woods made their first official red carpet appearance at the Met Ball in 2013. Although there was some blowback from Vonn calling celebrities “skinny fat,” I loved everything about her look. There was no reason for her to be concerned with feeling like she weighed more than the other women there. The white Elie Saab dress and the sleek ponytail were so classy — she’s inspiring me to go blonde again!

And clearly, Woods likes her look too since the couple is still together.

Super Sexy at the Super Bowl

When you think of the Super Bowl, fashion doesn’t really come to mind, but Vonn pulled it off at the ESPN Super Bowl Party in February. Since she wasn’t competing at the Olympics, she got to get her party on — crutches (again) and all — in this sexy, orange dress.

American Gold

This year, when Vonn attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, she knew how to rock the blue carpet (President Obama is a Democrat, get it?) in a gold gown by Oscar de la Renta. I’m a sucker for gold metallics, so this is my favorite style of hers by far. With her va-va-voom hair and her dress’s sexy sneak peek, she’s proven that this skier has got what it takes to be a guest judge on Project Runway.
