MEET ERIN, HURRICANE SEASON'S NEXT STORM

by Gillian White

It's August, which means yet another storm is brewing, this time in the Atlantic.

Tropical Storm Erin is currently gathering strength in the Atlantic Ocean about 65 miles away from the Cape Verde Islands and moving west-northwest at around 16 miles per hour.

On Thursday the storm's winds were around 40 miles per hour but experts expect Erin to continue to strengthen over the next few days. A Tropical Storm warning is in effect for Cape Verde's souther Islands including: Santiago, Fogo, and Brava.

On its current track, Tropical Storm Erin could be nearing the coast of Puerto Rico by Tuesday morning.
