There is Life After Sookie For Anna Paquin

by Marisa LaScala

It's hard to believe it's almost over. After seven seasons, True Blood 's series finale airs August 24. After spending more than half a decade in Bon Temps, what projects will Anna Paquin take on when Sookie and Co. all pack it in and move on? Don't worry, fae-fans. If you can't see Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse on HBO, she's got other roles on the horizon — if you know where to look for her.

Paquin is already moving on, distancing herself from Stackhouse from the outside in. She showed up at this year's San Diego Comic-Con with un-Sookie-like purple hair. Still, she said she hadn't let the end of True Blood sink in. "So far, it doesn’t really feel like any other year," she told Entertainment Weekly. "We do this every year. You know, we wrap sort of early July, then we have Comic-Con, and then we have a few other bits and pieces. What will be weird is November when we’re not going back to work. However, I did celebrate my hair’s return to being my own property." Hence, the purple. Which looks awesome, BTW.

For your next Paquin fix, it's more likely that you'll see the actress sporting a silvery-white streak of hair instead of the purple 'do. When X-Men: Days of Future Past hit theaters this past summer, Rogue fans were disappointed to find out that Paquin's character didn't have too much screen time. It turns out that there was plenty of Rogue material shot, it just couldn't fit into the final movie. “Through the editing process, the [Rogue] sequence became extraneous,” director Bryan Singer told Entertainment Weekly, explaining the cut. “Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in."

According to James Finn, Fox's EVP of Marketing Communications, an extended cut of the movie will be available next year (and not, unfortunately, on the DVD, which comes out in October).

X-Men: Days of Future Past is already delightful, and it can only benefit from an additional Rogue subplot.

After that, nothing official has been announced — but it's a good bet that she'll be sticking around HBO, and with husband and True Blood costar Stephen Moyer. The pair have a production company, CASM, that has a first-look deal with the cable network, meaning HBO gets first crack at any series, films, or miniseries they create together. "That may include new starring vehicles for Paquin or Moyer as, in addition to producing, the pact includes options for the two to act and direct," Deadline reports.

A possible new HBO series, possibly starring Paquin and Moyer together, possibly directed by them both? That sounds a heck of a lot like True Blood, or the next-best-thing for a True Blood fan.
