You Don't Want To Miss the Emmys' Red Carpet

by Keertana Sastry

Let's be honest just for a second you guys. The Emmy's telecast is great fun and it's usually pretty interesting to see to which of our favorite actors Emmy voters will give awards. But isn't it always much more entertaining to watch the red carpets for awards shows like these? I certainly think so. This year, the Emmys' red carpet will be broadcast on two channels and at two separate times. For those hoping to get quick looks at dresses and pre-show interviews, check out NBC's red carpet telecast which begins at 7:30 p.m. EST/4:30 p.m. PST. But for the masters of red-carpet watching, E! will air both a countdown to the red carpet special and the red carpet itself, with all of the festivities starting at 4:30 p.m. EST/1:30 p.m. PST. And if you can't get to a TV in time, E! has you covered with a livestream of the red carpet at 5:55 p.m. EST/2:55 p.m. EST.

So what is it about red carpet pre-shows that are just so much more fun than watching the main event? It can't all be about the dresses, can it? As much fun as it is to watch limo after limo pull up with celebrities and judge their fashion choices, I have to say that some of the more candid moments on the screen are usually the reason I tune in so early in the day. For example, remember when Jennifer Lawrence photobombed Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes? Priceless.

Red carpets are also the place where reporters get the best pre-show interviews from hosts of the awards shows. When Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the Golden Globes for the first time, they were asked before the show what was in their purses and how they prepared to host.

Plus, you also get great moments between celebrities (like T-Swift and J-Law) but most of these are moments you really have to look out for closely because it's not always clear. Here is Julie Bowen explaining an entertaining moment on the Emmy's 2013 red carpet with Jon Hamm, the weird Emmy red carpet police, and the press photographers.

What more can I say? It just seems foolish to miss out on these gems.
