Nicki Minaj's Backup Dancer Bitten By A Live Snake

by Sofia Barrett-Ibarria

In keeping with tradition, Sunday night's VMAs are getting off to a drama-filled start. The MTV VMAs are known for producing some of the weirdest, wildest, and most controversial award show performances of all time, and this year is no exception. Iggy Azalea has already suffered a rehearsal mishap, and Friday TMZ reported that Nicki Minaj was also rehearsing for her upcoming VMA performance when one of her dancers was bitten by a live six-foot-long boa constrictor named Rocky, a fifteen-year industry vet who was being used as a prop.

Reportedly, the dancer was wearing the snake draped across her shoulders a la Britney Spears' "I'm A Slave 4 U" when it bit her, immediately stopping the rehearsal and probably giving this poor dancer nightmares for the rest of her life. Director of Production Safety for Viacom Chris Velvin said that, although the snake isn't venomous and the situation was "in no way life-threatening", the dancer was taken to the hospital to treat the wound and prevent the possibility of bacterial infection. According to People, Rocky will be replaced by another snake for the live performance Sunday evening, which will surely be overflowing with butts everywhere, if the video is any indication.

Butts. Butts everywhere.
