His Ice Bucket Challenge Has a Crazy Twist Ending

I never really expected that there would come the day where I'd see Twin Peaks creator and famed director David Lynch's ice bucket challenge video, but I guess that was just silly of me — everyone in Hollywood has been nominated at this point, and Lynch was nominated twice (once by Laura Dern, once by Justin Theroux), so it was only a matter of time. We all should have expected this, and we also all should have expected that the video, upon its release, would be as truly delightful and weird as Lynch's work itself is. This thing is a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.

I don't want to give too much away, especially the ending, so here's a quick summary: Lynch begins by announcing who nominated him, then mentions that Enlightened actress Dern requested that his bucket be filled with iced coffee instead of iced water. I assume this has something to do with the fact that he actually sells coffee. He then decides that, of course, he has to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" badly on a trumpet while the iced coffee is dumped on him, so he does, and it sounds terrible but looks amazing. He then completes Theroux's part of the challenge before making his own nomination...and like any episode of Twin Peaks or perhaps even his film, Mullholland Drive, it's a twist you're never gonna see coming.
