Chad Michael Murray Joins the Marvel Universe

by Alanna Bennett

ALERT: Someone who was a teen heartthrob in the mid-2000s is staging a comeback. Are you ready for it? I don't know if I'm ready for it. But Chad Michael Murray joined the cast of Marvel's Agent Carter , so we better get ready for it.

The One Tree Hill star has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming ABC show, which will follow Hayley Atwell's Agent Peggy Carter (originally seen onscreen in the first Captain America movie) in her work with the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) in 1946. Murray will be playing SSR Agent Jack Thompson. Also joining the cast is Dollhouse's Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa.

This is a show I'm practically duty-bound to be super psyched for. After all, look at The Hollywood Reporter's description of the show:

Agent Carter, which will air as a gap show between the first and second half of Agents of SHIELD'ssophomore run, is set in 1946. Peace has dealt Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR, Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark.

A period drama based around one of Captain America's best characters and her struggle operating in a structurally misogynistic environment while being way too badass for anyone around her? Hell yes.

But am I really emotionally prepared to be invested in Chad Michael Murray again?

Unclear.

Is the world ready, really?

Murray himself is probably feeling pretty ready, though.
