Lee Thompson Young Found Dead

Sad, shocking news: According to TMZ, actor Lee Thompson Young has died. He was best known for his titular role in the Disney series The Famous Jett Jackson.

The actor was reportedly discovered dead in his home by his landlord early this morning. Young was currently appearing in the TNT series Rizzoli & Isles, and it was staffers of the series who called Young's landlord to check on him when he didn't show up for work. When the landlord opened the door to Young's L.A. home, he found the actor's body.

The official cause of death has been specified to be a gunshot wound, and officials are reportedly saying that it appears to be self-inflicted. This hasn't been confirmed yet, though.

Young is best remembered for his role as Jett Jackson in the Disney series The Famous Jett Jackson, which ran on the network between 1998 and 2001. After the show ended, Young went on to appear in multiple notable projects, such as 2004's Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, South Beach, Smallville, and NBC's short-lived series FlashForward.

Young was 29.

UPDATE: Young's longtime manager Jonathan Baruch has confirmed that the actor's death was a suicide. His statement:

It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning. Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends at this very difficult time.
