17 Shows That Prove 2009 Brought Us Some Excellent TV

It seems like the ruthlessness of networks on new shows is equivalent to The Hunger Games in recent years. Hardly anyone is making it out alive, except for those who finagled some backdoor poisonous berry deal like Katniss and Peeta did. Anyhow, it wasn't always that way. Just a mere five years ago, shows across the board were embraced and they're still some of our favorite programs today. Take a looksie, I bet you didn't realize just how good 2009 was for TV.

'Modern Family'

I know, I know. You’re sick of them winning ALL the Emmys. I am too. But just because we’d like the Academy to give someone else a chance, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve them. Six seasons later and I’m still laughing at all of the endearing dysfunction.

'Glee'

Regardless of how you may feel about Glee now, the first three seasons were downright amazing. It was different, it was new, it was funny, it was musical, and it was romantic.

'Parks and Recreation'

All hail Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Pratt. The list goes on with this cast, really.

'Community'

It’s had some difficulty staying afloat, but this show is undeniably beloved. So much so that it was saved from obliteration in the eleventh hour.

'The Good Wife'

Two words: Julianna Margulies

'Real Housewives of New Jersey'

The BEST housewives to ever grace Bravo. Caroline Manzo is life.

'The Vampire Diaries'

Nina Dobrev knows she has the best job in the world, right?

'The League'

Utterly ridiculous on all accounts, but that’s why it’s so good.

'Jersey Shore'

Equally horrifying and entertaining. Don’t say you never caught an episode, you liar.

'The Middle'

Sueeeeeeee <3 <3 <3

'Nurse Jackie'

As if Edie Falco wasn’t perfect enough, they had to go throw the ever-hilarious Merritt Wever into the mix. You SO deserved that Emmy, girl.

'Eastbound & Down'

I’ve never loved to hate anyone as much as I do Kenny Powers. The ultimate tool.

'RuPaul's Drag Race'

So fierce, so addicting.

'Pawn Stars'

I like to see what people can get for an old picture frame they found in their attic, and apparently, do does the rest of America.

'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'

He’s now taken over The Tonight Show, but Jimmy Fallon stole our hearts long before that.

'Cougar Town'

Because wine.

'White Collar'

I could just watch an entire episode of Matt Bomer’s face, to be honest.
