Jason Wu Channels Charlotte Rampling on the Runway

by Erin Mayer

Arguably the coolest part of any fashion week is finding out exactly who, what, and where your favorite designers drew inspiration from that season. Even if you have no way of affording their clothing, at least you can obsess over their muses, right? So get ready to channel Charlotte Rampling a la the killer hair and makeup on the Jason Wu Spring 2015 runway.

A low-key beauty scheme ruled the backstage roost at Friday morning's presentation. Rampling, timeless English beauty and current NARS spokesperson, was the perfect catalyst for this brilliantly rumpled (Rampled?) look, composed of a slicked back pony and a no-mascara makeup concept. Look, I know ponytails have been an official Thing for awhile. But the magicians at Kératase made them seem oh-so-brand-new for Wu (yeah, I know I'm a poet, thanks for asking) and now I'm really into them again.

Those Kératase ponys wonderfully complimented the au naturel makeup achieved by Lancôme and makeup artist Diane Kendal. It was all about dewy skin (isn't everything?) and smoky eyes. Clearly, a no-makeup vibe is what's in for Spring 2015, and are we really surprised after all those #wokeuplikethis selfies that took over Instagram this summer? Think of this as the high-profile version.

If you're as obsessed with this vibe as I am, you're in luck! Wu released a six-color eye palette for $52 and three shades of lipstick for $22.50 in conjunction with Lancome. The colors are inspired by Wu's Spring 2015 collection, so you can bring a little bit of the runway home for a fraction of the cost. The line is exclusively available at Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom.
