Love Pop Art? Trina Turk Does Too

by Tyler Atwood

If you though you had escaped Coachella simply because the raucous musical weekend has passed or mod clothing because the decade has passed, Trina Turk is here to tell you the fashionable fun isn't stopping anytime soon. Turk's Spring 2015 collection is a remarkable mashup of old school prep and incredibly modern music festival wares, molded into one very buoyant array of looks. Tribal patterned trousers were jauntily paired with textured tops, rompers were rendered in brilliant coral, and sweeping, patterned maxi dresses abounded in the collection. Equally abundant were the type of relaxed tunics and fitted shorts that rule Coachella and Governor's Ball, as well as number of easy mini dresses with a sweet, feminine fit. Accessories being an essential counterpart to any ensemble, Turk dispersed several statement bib necklaces amongst her models, each artfully draped over the top of an otherwise laid-back ensemble.

To accent her collection, Turk enlisted the help of Beauty.com's Sarah Lucero and Esther Langham, giving each model a look that appeared simultaneously relaxed and eye-catching. The artist behind Stila's bold cosmetic look further explained its relevance to the show, stating:

The designer's inspiration was pop art, mixed with this cool girl in L.A. going to the flower market. You can see that in the patterns of the garments.

To achieve the fluttering lashes and dewy skin, the team utilized matte turquoise eye shadow (blue is big for spring, if you haven't heard) and a generous coat of Stila's Mile High Mascara, and gave the skin a fresh appearance with a thin veil of tinted moisturizer. Each model's visage was further enhanced with a subtle bronze contour, and polished off with a coat of either Stila's Color Balm Lipstick in Gemma, or Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Carina.

If Coachella-ready clothing, coral-colored lips, mod inspiration, and a standing appointment with the flower market is all part of the quotidian life for an L.A. native, it may be time to jet off to the City of Angels.
