Report: Gunman Threatens Georgia Elementary School

by Jenny Hollander

Broadcast news agencies in Georgia have confirmed that one person is in custody after a shooting threat Tuesday afternoon at Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy, an elementary school in DeKalb County.

News sources, including CNN, initially claimed that there were no shots fired, and no injuries. New reports, however, state that a white male shot an AK-47 30 times, although no injuries have been reported. The suspect allegedly entered the school, demanding to speak to the local TV station. Officials say they do not yet have any idea of a motive.

Helicopter footage showed children being evacuated from the building.

Fox 5 Atlanta said that the "shooter" had no intention to hurt anybody.

Parents are now apparently picking up their children near the Wal-Mart and the designated "safe zone" outside the school.
