These Women Got Married After 72 Years

In case you were feeling down about life and needed the happiest pick-me-up ever, nonagenarians Vivian Boyack and Alice Dubes got married in Davenport, Iowa ethis week after 72 years together. The two inspiring women (91 and 90 years old, respectively) met in Yale, Iowa and moved into the same house 1947. Together, they visited all 50 states, every province of Canada, and England and, oh yeah, also managed to stay in love for almost a CENTURY.

Their wedding was attended by family and close friends at the First Christian Church and officiated by Reverend Linda Hunsaker who commented: "This is a celebration of something that should have happened a very long time ago." Dubes summed up their adventures together with a simple "We've had a good time."

Iowa legalized same-sex marriage in 2009, making it the third state in the country to do so. Since then, more than 6,000 same-sex couples have married in the state, and in the first year of legalization 10 percent of all marriages accounted for were same sex marriages. Only 815 couples were from the state itself. The rest poured in from neighboring Missouri, Nebraska, and Illinois where same-sex marriage is still not legal.
